The PCC has a statutory duty to comment on reports published by His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Service (HMICFRS) about Sussex Police. To make these easily accessible and to keep the public fully informed about any responses the PCC has made to HMICFRS, a copy of the response will be published below, together with links to the relevant report.

This report is HMIC's response to the Home Secretary’s commission of 07 November 2012, which asked HMIC to conduct a review to assess the police knowledge of and response to the historical allegations made against the late Jimmy Savile.

The HMIC report “Mistakes were made”: HMIC’s review into allegations and intelligence material concerning Jimmy Savile between 1964 and 2012 can be viewed here. The information held by Sussex is the subject of section 7 of the report, and is also discussed in the executive summary.
