Meet the REBOOT team
REBOOT is made up of many partners and different roles. These include a member of staff in the Police & Crime Commissioner's Office, an operational lead and co-ordinators based within Sussex Police as well as a coaching element. This brings together coaches across the county from YMCA, The Hangleton and Knoll Project, Audio Active and Trust for Developing Communities; forming the network of support offered at the second stage of REBOOT.
Short biographies of some of the team involved in the programme
Nicola Pearce, REBOOT Programme Manager (OSPCC)
"Having provided strategic insight and analysis on knife crime and serious violence in my previous role as an Intelligence Analyst, the key drivers of these types of crime which begin in early childhood and adolescence, come up again and again. In my view, the only way to truly prevent these crimes, and protect those who are caught up in them, is collaborative early intervention.
"I am really excited to be part of a dynamic programme which offers valuable and much needed support for young people. During this time of uncertainty and the increasing pressures faced by young people today, REBOOT is needed more than ever before."
PS Kate Blackbourn, Operational Policing Lead, Sussex Police
"I joined the team because it was an opportunity not to be missed. I am always looking for innovative ways of working and keen to explore new ideas. The impact the police can have on someone’s life can be so pivotal. I am really proud to be part of a team that has the opportunity to divert a young person from going down the wrong path. Early intervention is the key to the future."
Elizabeth Bacon, Brighton & Hove Coordinator
"I recently graduated from university after studying a Criminology degree. This role is so fulfilling, I am constantly learning and developing and feel like my work is really paying off in the community. I enjoy being part of such a powerful team of people who make real differences to young people’s lives. I have always had an interest in upbringing and early childhood experience and how this affects adult life and this role and the early intervention programme is constantly showing me the importance of positive relationships, role models and how effective early intervention really is."
Ben West, East Sussex Coordinator
"I have worked for more than 20 years in a variety of settings across the public and charity sectors working from 0-25 years, I am passionate about helping young people identify and overcome barriers and fulfil their life goals and ambitions both independently and in partnership with others giving the best outcome for that young person. I believe that early intervention is the best and most successful time to make a positive difference to young people and the wider community."
Emily Green, West Sussex Coordinator
"Supporting, working with and assisting young people has always been something I have had a keen interest in hence my motivation to be a part of the evolving and captivating REBOOT programme. Prior to this role, I work within a school, as well as undertook work completing Restorative Justice and guiding Police Officers and staff around how to restoratively work with youths that had come to notice. I believe all youths should have support, mentoring and guidance at the earliest point possible in order to give them the best chance at a positive future."
Tracy Partridge, YMCA REBOOT Coaching Manager
"I have been working with young people and families for 14 years. I'm a qualified counsellor and began my career working in children’s homes as a residential social worker until I moved on to form part of the management team. I worked for Think Family and most recently managed a team for the charity RISE specialising in high risk domestic abuse victims. My passion is helping others, especially young people, it is rewarding to see them grow in confidence and go on to have bright futures.
"In my current role, I manage the team of Youth Coaches and Stage Two of the REBOOT programme."
Adam, Youth Coach, Brighton & Hove
"I've worked in the public and third sector for 14 years supporting vulnerable young people and adults in a variety of front line and managerial youth work, homelessness and mental health roles. I am passionate about working alongside young people to enable them to use and develop their skills, interests and potential. The REBOOT project shares in these values and wants to provide support to help young people lead safe and positive lives."
Helen, Youth Coach, Brighton & Hove
"I am a Senior Youth Worker who developed an award-winning project which I managed for years. I created opportunities for hundreds of 11- 19 year olds to access a range of exciting projects around adults they could trust. Every young person should have a voice and be supported appropriately through their personal and social development. They should have access to opportunities to fulfil their potential and feel safe and well cared for. I work in an honest and direct way that builds trust and enables them to take responsibility for their own choices."
Cleo, Youth Coach, Horsham and Mid-Sussex
"Since completing a degree in Criminology & Sociology I’ve worked in a variety of supportive roles, both with adults and young people. My most recent role was working as a Learning & Wellbeing mentor in a high school, using a trauma informed approach, focussing on the emotional wellbeing of young people.
"I gained experience working in a mental health hospital low secure unit for teenage girls with extreme self-harming behaviours and suicidal tendencies, working to maintain the safety of the young people whilst trying to support them with their trauma.
"I have a passion for working collaboratively with young people so that they feel safe and supported. It is important to me that their voice is heard and that they are given the opportunity to fulfil their potential."
Laura, Youth Coach, Horsham
"I want to help youths who make poor choices due to negative life experiences. I’ve worked in various child protection roles within the community. The most recent was setting up The Prince’s Trust in Worthing, leading a group of vulnerable 16-25-year-olds on a 12-week programme helping them get back into work or education. Within REBOOT I help youths re-engage with positive activities and give them the tools they need to step away from anti-social behaviour."
Greg, Youth Coach, Lewes
"I have experience working with young people and adults with learning difficulties. I’m a licensed practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming which allows me to work with people around overcoming limiting belief and achieving their desired outcomes. I also worked with the Global Social Club, aiming to bring young members of the migrant community together with those from the local area. REBOOT gives me the chance to work with young people to find activities relevant to them. We are giving young people opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have."
Carl, Youth Coach, Hastings
"I have a lot of knowledge around the issues young people face from working in the voluntary sector previously at youth hubs in East Sussex. I facilitate workshops within schools and supported accommodations covering subjects surrounding County Lines, Gangs and exploitation. I am a big believer in change. With the right support and guidance anybody can turn their lives around for the better - this is my reason for joining REBOOT."
Paul, Youth Coach, Worthing
"I have worked with young people for 17 years in a variety of roles. I have experience of supporting those with complex and challenging needs including; school refusal, family break down, the use of drugs and alcohol, mental health, and young people involved in crime. REBOOT is an exciting project that has a positive impact on young people’s lives. I love working in a strength-based approach and helping them enjoy new activities and challenges."
