APCC - 101 non-emergency service consultation

The current contract for providing 101 is due to run out next April and the Home Office has pulled together a steering group to review the service before it is re-tendered to make it more ‘future proof’. This includes considering issues like awareness and use of the service, technological change and potentially extending from the existing phone service to incorporate web, text or similar, partnership arrangements, and how future costs will be met. This programme raises some significant points for PCCs to consider in relation to the future of the 101 service before work begins on developing the tender for new 101 contract in October.
