Home Office: Direct Entry to the Police Service Consultation

The government is consulting on how to implement proposals from Tom Winsor’s Independent Review of Police Officer and Staff Remuneration and Conditions. These include:

• a national fast track scheme to the rank of inspector
• a direct entry scheme for the rank of superintendent
• changes to the eligibility criteria for the rank of chief constable
