Home Office: Strategic Policing Requirement Refresh Consultation

The Strategic Policing Requirement (SPR) is a statement of the collective capabilities that police forces across England and Wales are expected to have in place to protect the public from cross-boundary national threats.

The SPR was issued in July 2012 and the Home Office are committed to reviewing it "from time to time’ in consultation with policing and other partners. HMIC’s recent report on SPR arrangements also recommended that the SPR should be regularly reviewed "to make sure its requirements remain relevant and effective".

The Home Office is undertaking a refresh of the SPR to ensure it is factually up to date, fit for purpose and consistent with a changing policing landscape.
