Ministry of Justice - Extension of the Grant to Stop Learning Disability Hate Crime Helpline

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) sought the views of Police & Crime Commissioners (PCCs) regarding a possible extension of the grant to Stop Hate UK. The MoJ wanted to know whether:

• support for victims of learning disability hate crime will be embedded locally in PCC commissioned arrangements from 1 April 2015. This would take away the need for the MoJ to continue funding the Stop Learning Disability Hate Crime Helpline; or
• there is a need for a short term extension of the MoJ grant to Stop Hate UK to allow PCCs more time to consider and ensure the support needs for victims of learning disability hate crime are being met through local or regional collaborative arrangements; and to agree a plan for a definitive point at which these services can transfer to locally commissioned arrangements.
